After A week since I have finished my magazine I have decided to make some changes to the finsihed product. I decided to do this because I thought that their was more potential in my magazine and by changing a few small things it would look better. For my front page I decided to change the font of my selling line and the colours to stick more to my overall theme. This stands out a bit more and looks better as A magazine which is my main reason for the extra changes. Because of my front page change I also had to change the contents page because of my idea. I had to remove the frist title page and replace it with the new to keep it consistent throughout.

I have finally finished my second page of my double spread. I have added a photo of my main coverline artist into my interview. At first it looked very bare and many magazines arent bare so I decided to extend and make more for the page. I included another quote from the interview in big letters in the middle of the page. This makes it look more real as in my research this occured in many magazines. That made it look better and I was happy however I added page numbers too them both afterwards. My page numbers corresponded with the numbers I gave the interview on my contents page to make sure it was all good. I then to finish had too put both on one page to make it look like a double page spread. I did this by opening a new photoshop and copy and pasting both together into one. This was my final piece of my coursework and overall I was happy with the double page spread and extremely happy after all mine together. After our first school prospectus piece and never using photoshop before that I think that I have been successful in making a good magazine and I am really happy in my work.

Tuesday, 27 March 2012

Over the weekend and yesterday I have put my questions and answers onto my second page. All my questions were written in yellow and the answers in white. This made a clear indication on the difference in the text and stayed with my overall colour theme. I think it looks good and its all in line with other questions which makes it look good. I have also included the title and a sentence underneath describing the interview. The title is also in yellow and the sentence in white again to stick with the colour scheme. Its coming along but I want to add a picture and hoepfully it will all look good in the end.

Friday, 23 March 2012

In the last few days I have finished my first page of my double page spread and have written the interview out ready to put onto the second page of my double page spread. I had already put the 2 photo's on before and just added an introduction paragraph and a quote from the interview I had wrote for the second page. Although it looks a bit bare normally a first page isnt very informative and it still looks quite good. Now I have wrote my interview out I have an idea of what I want to do on my second page. The questions and answers will throughout the page and I want to include a image and a title and little information line underneath the title. Nearly done now and its all looking good im happy.

Tuesday, 20 March 2012

Today I have just started the first page of my double page spread. I am including 2 photos that I have taken and I have already put these on my page. I have put one on the top right of my page and the other on the bottom left and have used feathering to make it blur together in the middle of the page. As the 1st part of the double page spread, it wont have much information included so im thinking of putting a beginning to the interview that will be the 2nd page. I might use a quote from the interview on the front page with the artists name to make it look real and professional.

My contents page of my music magazine.
I have now finished my contents page. I came up with an idea for the missing part of the contents page. I came up with the idea of putting my front page on the contents page and putting numbers around the coverlines to show where they are in the magazine. I thought this was a good imaginative idea and it looked really good on my contents page. With the rest of the page and the colours it looked good and as a whole the contents page looked brilliant. I think that the contents page looked better than the front page and I am really really happy with my contents page. Bring on the double page spread.

Friday, 16 March 2012

I am nearly finished with my contents page however I have a big space to fill and need something imaginative to put there. I have included all the magazine information I wanted too and have done this in my colour scheme of black and yellow. I have also added the editors message towards the bottom of the page as I reserahced that many magazines have one of these. Underneath I have added a list of free posters inside the magazine which would be used to engage the reader. All that needs to be done now is fill the gap with either some more information, an image or a cool new idea.

Tuesday, 13 March 2012

Over the last couple of days I have included some of my thoughts and my contents page is coming together now. So far I have included a sucscription claim along the bottom of my page which looks quite good in white font. I have also included the date and a made up website of my magazine at the top of the page next to my title of the contents page. This looks professional and makes it look better and is a good detail on my contents page. I have added a big white box down the left side of my page which is where I will put my list of interviews etc for the readers. Im going to put the writing in black and yellow to go with the white background fo the box. So far im happy with the contents page and have included everything ive wanted so far.

Friday, 9 March 2012

After finishing my front page I have just started my contents page and have come up with some good ideas. So far I have only added the title however I want to include a list of things in my magazine such as other interviews and stories down the left side whilst having a website, a subscription package scheme, and also want to include an editor messages. I need to look at the layout of the page first before deciding where to put all these features I want on it but I reckon if i stick to the same sort of colour scheme then the contents page should look good.

My front page of my finished music magazine. I have took inspiration from the Vibe magazine which is the same colours as my magazine. As you can see my research had gave me an idea of how my magazine would look and I think looks good. I am going to try to change some things as you can tell bylooking at both of these which is the professional magzine out of the 2. The box idea has come off this magazine too however I have interpreted this more by making it come off the page for extra effect.
Just finished my front page now. I have added text to my font boxes I added on my front page and now it looks good and has the effect of it coming off the page. I think that overall it looks good. The colours are the same throughout and have updated my barcodes and added the pricing and date of the issue of the magazine to make it look more realsitic. The competition star I have added the text to for an incentive to win a competition and make it more appealing to an audience. Overall I am really pleased with my title page as it has looked better than I expected and I am rather happy with the way it looks professional and like a magazine. The image and the colours look really good together and I am pleased with the overall page I have made. Now onto the contents page.

Tuesday, 6 March 2012

Ive had a few more days now and have really made my front page looking a lot better than before. I have added a selling line at the top of my page just above my image. I have moved my image to the right of the page and on the left put some boxes coming off the page for effect and also for the left third of the page which is where an audience would be seeing first. I have made my headline and made it look more of a 'pop' genre by using some ideas to make it look and aim at the pop audience. All the text is in Yellow and Black as it is corresponding with each colour for example my boxes are yellow so the writing black and the background black so the writng yellow to stay with my theme and house colours. I have just now added my competition star but have some work still to do to make it look real and good.

Friday, 2 March 2012

I Have started my front page and have got my background colour sorted as I have it black, my title of the music magazine completed in Yellow and have also used the lasso magnetic tool to cut out my image of my music composer. At the moment the page looks really bare as I havent put anything on it however I plan to put some boxes and competitions on the left side of the page to make it look better and also plan other stuff like a selling line and barcode and pricing of the magazine too, however its been a good start and I have the ideas that I want to put on my front page. The main problem I have faced is the stance of my artist. The way I have taken the photograph shows he is leaning to the side. After cutting him out I have seen that getting him standing correctly on the page has been tricky however I have rotated the image so that it looks like he is leaning on the end of the page. In my opinion this looks good so far.

Thursday, 1 March 2012

Today I am starting my front page of my magazine. I have thought of the name of wireless music magazine and have taken my pictures so am going to include these on my front page. I have a good idea of the type of way I want to lay out my page and am sticking with the black, yellow and white colour theme I had chosen. I will then add the final touches to make it look better and hopefully look professional.

Tuesday, 28 February 2012

This is my analysed work on my own genre and magazine. Here i have looked at again the front page, contents page and double page spread of the top of the pops magazine which Is in my genre. I have looked at this and seen the way that it is set out with the layout, fonts, colour, coverlines, title, barcode, and many other things.  This has gave me an idea for my own and I have included this in my work.
This is my review of Kerrang magazine. I have described and gone over the contents page, the title page and the double page spread. I have wrote down notes that will help me determine what to do in my own magazine and this image shows my analysis of the front page of this current magazine. Here are my notes.

Monday, 6 February 2012

My final prospectus front page is now finished and looks rather good according to before these couple of weeks I had never used photoshop. I have made my front page look good in my opinion and have set out it for this purpose. I used a maroon and gold/yellow colour scheme to make it stand out and go with the school colours, as well as contrasting with the colour of the writing to see it clearly. This also stuck to the colour scheme. I have placed the logo and details of the school in the bottom corner of the front cover to put them all together as it would be relevant for a real prospectus to do this and be the same kind of format. The pictures I used were taken with establishing and pan shots that could see the sixth form block, the school and a classroom which I thought was appropriate for the prospectus to show off the school and its assests. Overall I think that I was rather successful in my creation but with more time and a better understanding of photoshop and its many controls I think I could have done more and made it even better. Im having problems uploading the prospectus but should be done soon to see!

Tuesday, 31 January 2012

Finally finished my preliminary task of making my own school prospectus. I have learnt new skills that are shown in my prospectus and these can be used for my final and important piece of my work that is 50% of my grade. My overall photshop looks rather good although there could be some improvements however I have mastered the skills necessary to use photoshop and these will help majorly in my real task. My prospectus is looking quite good and I am happy with my overall work and progress made in photoshop and am looking confidently towards making my real piece of work. Done.

Monday, 30 January 2012

Have mastered a few more skills now and beginning to get the hang of what to do. I need to place the images and content of my prospectus in a shape to look good. I have also now just recently added a background colour, which also applies to the colour scheme of the text that I have now included giving some information to want people to continue reading. The colours I have used are maroon red and yellow/gold and have stuck to these with the text included. All I now need to do is too set out my images and text appropriatley to fit everything in and make it look good for a school prospectus.

Saturday, 28 January 2012

Been using photoshop for a few days but im not very good at using and making it look professional at all. I have mastered some of the skills but still need work to master all of these. My prospectus is looking okay although I need to add a background to fit the prospectus and include the rest of my aims. The plan I orignally had has had some changes to it however the overall plan is the same just changing some picture places. My prospectus is getting along okay however the deadline is coming up and need to master these to finish it.

Thursday, 26 January 2012

The last couple of days, I have been using photoshop to try and get the hang of what to do and how to make it look good. So far I have used the magnetic lasso tool to get the pictures to what I want, have used the copy and paste to put them onto my background copy and have tried to stick to my plan that I had drawn up. Although I have only been using photoshop for a couple of days, I can see that my plan is staying the same but some changes are being made to make it look good in my opinion. Photoshop is hard at the moment for me but I am gradually getting used to it and my task is becoming better and better.

Tuesday, 24 January 2012

This is my first practical lesson using photoshop and its really hard. Although ive had the tuorial on how to use the main skills, it is taking loads of time for me to get used to using these for my work. Its becoming really hard to find out more skills like background for example and I have no clue how to do these kind of things yet. I have made a useful start to my prospectus however need to get the main skills into my head to continue progressing in the task.

Monday, 23 January 2012

Just gone out and taken my pictures for my prospectus. I have taken pictures and I am going to include the best of the pictures for the prospectus. I am going to include at least 5 for my prospectus so that it shows a good understanding of the school and makes it look professional. I have taken around 15 photos that I can choose from, and used establishing, over the shoulder and close up shots in my photos. I want the logo, the school, pupils, contact details and courses available for the front page and this is the aim for my prospectus to have by the end of the task. I have took the photos from around the school to fit in with my plans for my prospectus. These will help in making it look like a real school prospectus and with them all being my own photos I can edit them to my needs for the task. The weather and the picture quality wasnt the best as the light was reflected on some photos. This means I will have to edit these and the brightness if I use them, in my prospectus.

Friday, 20 January 2012

In todays lesson I have come up with a plan for my school prospcetus. This is to be used and looked at when making my prospectus to complete my task. I have spent the last hour making a detailed plan of what I want to include and this I hope to stick too. This could be changed for the possible success of the task if I think there may be a better possibility of the prospectus becoming better looking and more successful overall.

Monday, 16 January 2012

In the second lesson today, I had a photoshop tutorial to help me use photoshop to make my prospectus. We learned how to: open,
 save,
 copy and paste,
 lasso,
 blur,
 include text,
 colour
 and eraser.
These things I will use in my photoshop prospectus for my design of my school prospetus. Mastering the skills will be hard as I havent done any of these before which is why the tutorial will help me in my task. In class we followed the steps to do this ourselves and continued to try and work to gain the skills necessary for completion of the task. This is hard at the moment for me as I havent used this software before and it needs getting used to for me to achieve the task successfully.
Introduced to the course today in my double lesson and have to for the preliminary task make a school prospectus before our final piece which will make up 50% of my overall mark. Im going to do my prospectus on the school and going to take my own photos to use for the prospectus in the coming days.
